The boys at 6 weeks

Here are the boys, and sadly I have to report that we lost one of the boys on Thursday. We don't know yet why, and we are waiting to hear results from the tissue necropsy which could come tomorrow. Everyone else went yesterday (Monday) for their well puppy exams, and their first distemper and parvo shots. They all did well and charmed the office staff, at one point we had two vets, and 5 techs in the room with us! Good hearts, strong patellas, good bites and clear lungs.

The Girls at 6 weeks

I finally had a moment to try and get head shots and side shots of the puppies. They were somewhat cooperative, they have never been on the table so it was a bit unnerving, but most of them were okay. Beanie Girl was very stubborn and did not want to stand for her side shot, but we did get a head shot of her. She's the one with the widest white blaze.

First day outside

The puppies got to go outside Thursday and again yesterday and today. They weren't too sure on Thursday but now they quite like it. A bit more room to run around and chase each other.

We're having fun!

I took these this morning while they were in the kitchen running around. They have a new routine now. They stay in their dining room pen most of the time, including at night, so it's in need of a bit of cleaning each morning. I move them all to the kitchen and they get to run around in there while I change their shavings and towels. They race around like mad, chew on my toes if I'm in there (I had dishes to wash) and then just as quickly crash for their morning nap. Most of them didn't even wake as I moved them back to their clean pen. Their grandpa, Gryffin, likes to watch them play, but really he just wants to get their toys. He covets their little toys, which he would love to rip to shreds.

Pretty girl

Here's a picture of Decker we took yesterday at the Channel City KC match in Goleta. It was very windy all day and rather chilly, but fun nonetheless. Decker finally has grown some coat, so is looking quite cute. She's almost 16 1/2 months old, and just finishing up being in season so the boys think she's very nice, indeed.

catching up

I took these yesterday, just didn't get a chance to post. Last night, one of the girls sat up on her rear end, and waved, too funny. This morning several figured out how to get out of the whelping box with the front panel up to its full height, scaling 12 inches of wall! They may sleep in the dining room tonight, they were fairly quiet last night in the bedroom. Tina decided on Wednesday that she was done feeding them, I'm pretty sure several of the girls were a little too rambunctious in their attempts to nurse, using their teeth a bit too harshly. They love their Eukanuba puppy food so I don't think they'll suffer. I'm still grinding it up in the food processor, but I'll start adding some unground kibble soon. They certainly have the teeth to crunch it up. They are playing more, with each other and with their toys. It's fun to watch how much they grow mentally each day.

Sleepy Time

I took this last night just before I moved them back to the bedroom for the night. This morning the move to the dining room was almost uneventful, not the disruption that it was yesterday morning. Last night they each got to sit and be groomed (combed and nails done) while we watched Dancing With the Stars.

Moving Day

Mom and I got the puppies moved to the dining room today, and they were not initially happy campers! Much crying ensued, and a little shaking, but they've settled down and have realized that Tina Sparkle still visits them and they get their bowls of gruel in here, too. One of the boys even attempted to play with the yellow octopus, a new addition to their toys.

Congratulations, Poppit!

Yes, your eyes are not deceiving you, this is not a Corgi! This is Poppit (Ch. Sunrock's Unplanned Parley), who is owned and bred by my good friends, Kathy and Debra, and I just heard that she got a group 3 today at the Del Sur show!
Way to go, Poppit! She's only 10 months old and is quite the little showstopper.
This is a picture I took of Poppit at the Palm Springs show in January where she earned her championship at the age of 7 months! Her grandfather Wyatt used to come to our house and hang out with Gryffin when they were both puppies, and Wyatt's daughter, Violet did the same last year, spending time with Arrow and Decker who are of a similar age. So that makes them honorary Rincon dogs!
On a Cardi puppy note, I've almost got the dining room set up for the puppies to move, so I should get some pictures of them in their new area tomorrow.

We do more than eat!

These were taken on Friday, just after they ate a meal. They always get very playful after they eat, which is fun to watch. The wide white blaze belongs to one of the boys, and the other pic is of a couple of the girls trying to get one of the boys to play with them. Today, Mom and I are working on getting it set up in the dining room so they can move out there at least for the daytime and see more of the world.

Surgery updates

Arrow had her spay surgery on Wednesday, all went well, though according to her new mom, Tracey, she's not pleased at having to wear an E-collar. Hermione had her spay surgery yesterday, and all went well with her, too, and she too, does not like having to wear a silly cone on her head. She is resigned to her fate, however, but I'm sure will start sighing and rolling her eyes soon.

Beautiful Boy

Gryffin (Tina Sparkle's dad) was out in the front patio this morning, and I caught him posing. He's such a pretty boy, so I took some pictures. He's a bit out of sorts these days as Decker came in season on March 4, so he and Mr. Darcy are having pee offs wherever they know the other has been! Oh, the fun of having intact boys around the house.
Puppies are doing well, they ate three times yesterday and we graduated to two plates today since they can't fit all their heads around the one 10 inch pie pan I was using. Next adventure for them will be their move to the dining room, but I'll have to do some rearranging of furniture first. And we have a wedding to go to on Saturday so it may have to wait until Sunday for the actual move.

Another day, another bowl of yummy goodness!

Another picture of the group eating and then a picture of the group cleaning each other after the fact. They get almost as much food on their bodies as they get into their bodies, but they are getting more proficient each day. Yesterday they got to eat from a bowl two times and ground puppy kibble was added so that was fun.
And I had a chance to give Andrea a call to check on Salsa and her puppies. They are all doing well, and eating from a bowl, too. So life is good with all the Rincon Corgis.
Oh, and a report from Arrow as well, she's settling in and learning the ropes at her new home. Thanks, Tracey and Kurt!

Eating from a bowl!

Everyone had a great time eating from the pie plate today, they gobbled it up in less than 15 seconds. First I had my little boy eat by himself for a bit, then let the rest of the puppies have a go. They were all quite delighted to give it a try.

Little Munchkin boy

I took the little Munchkin boy to the vet today. He sounded a bit rattly yesterday evening. Dr. Kristin listened to his lungs and heart, with two different stethoscopes, but couldn't hear anything odd. He's only gained a small amount compared to almost everyone else, but I think he's just not a very strong nurser. She suggested (and I had the same thought) that I try a bit of rice cereal and formula in a bowl. We tried that this afternoon and he did quite well. The others were all quite interested so I'll probably make up a pie pan of deliciousness tomorrow for all of them to try. I'll try and get pictures of their first communal meal, it's always an amusing couple of minutes.
Thanks to everyone for their nice comments, I really enjoy reading them.

Girls gone wild

Here are three of the four girls, hard to believe they'll be 3 weeks old tomorrow.
I'll call Andrea for an update on Salsa's bunch later today.

Me, too, please

Well, somehow Freddie heard that she was the only Corgi in residence that hasn't been on the blog yet. So, here she is. She's looking into the sun (we had rain earlier) so not the best shot, but she's happy with it. Freddie is Rincon Mischief Managed, brother to Mr. Darcy, and daughter of Hermione. We'll be breeding Freddie this spring when she next comes in season.

Feeding frenzy

I just took this pic of Tina feeding the puppies, you can see how they've grown in relation to her from the first couple of pictures. I'll get pictures of the girls later, they were eating when I went in to take them and I didn't want them to miss their breakfast. (and they would not have cooperated in my picture taking endeavor if they thought they were missing a meal!)

Mr. Darcy

Mr. Darcy (Ch. Rincon Marauder's Map) was outside this morning and I managed to take a couple of pictures. We think he's a very handsome boy, and I'm hoping to get him to some shows this spring so he can show himself off (which he loves to do).

The boys

This is the boy who was born second, I call him Redford, Jr. as he so reminds me of his uncle Redford (Tina's bro). He's much lighter than the other boys, as Redford was, and is quite an escape artist, having escaped quite a few times from their box. I'll post the munchkin boy and the girls later.

This is the biggest boy, and he's going to be quite pretty I think. He has minimal white, and is still quite dark, so possibly as dark as Tina Sparkle when he's older.

the boys (#2)

This is the other boy who was stuck, smallest of the four bigger boys, but catching up each day. He has the least white of any in this litter.

the boys

Here are individual shots of the boys, such as they are at 2 1/2 weeks.
I'll try the girls again later, I didn't like theirs this go around. This is one of the two boys who clogged things up on the day they were born, necessitating the section. He has the most white of any of the puppies Tina has had.
